What’s In There?

Link knows well that being a hero means being not only brave, but curious.  Curiosity helps heroes find the clues they need (and hidden treasure chests!) to complete their quests.

Here we see Link’s curiosity at work, wondering what could possibly be down in a hole in a stump.  Hopefully it’s a treasure chest and not a monster.

What's in there?

Until next time…

Monarch

Over the years I’ve been hiking and doing photography, I’ve had a number of insects fly by or even land on me or my camera.  It’s difficult to get a shot of a dragonfly that’s landed on the top of your lens or a butterfly that won’t hold still.  But every so often, they’ll play nice and I can get a decent image.

On a recent hike I waited for several minutes for a Monarch to finish wandering and land somewhere long enough for me to get a picture.  It chose a pine bough above me so I wasn’t able to get a clear shot of it’s entire wingspan, but the angle I had to work with made for a pretty image in the end so I wasn’t disappointed.

Even Heroes Need A Break

Questing, battling monsters, rescuing princesses, and saving kingdoms… It’s hard work. It should come as no surprise that even heroes need a break now and then.

Link is notorious for sleeping for long periods of time. He was even considered “lazy” by the Great Deku Tree and the Kokiri. But once he’s refreshed from his nap, watch out!

This concludes this month’s blog posts. As I mentioned on the first, I won’t be posting next week (the 22nd) or the following week (the 29th). I’ll be back with a new post on Monday, September 5th.

Link’s Greatest Find

Everyone who is familiar with and is a fan (like me) of the Legend of Zelda games knows that Link never starts out in the game with the best equipment. In Ocarina of Time he starts out as a child who has to find the small Kokiri sword and buy the wooden Deku shield. In Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword he has to find and/or buy and continuously upgrade to better equipment.

When it comes to his shield, the best of the best happens to be the Hylian shield. He usually has to go in search of it (or purchase it, or even have it gifted to him after completing some task, like in Ocarina of Time).

Here we see our Hero of Hyrule when he discovered his greatest find…
The Hylian shield!

Anyone Home?

First off, just to let my loyal readers know, there are five Mondays this month but there will only be three blog posts. There won’t be a post on Monday the 22nd, or Monday the 29th for reasons I won’t (and don’t want to) get into.

Now… On to our regularly scheduled blog post!…

Last week I told you folks about (and showed you) a few faerie houses that were pretty awesome at Quoddy Head State Park. Well, I forgot to tell you that Link checked out the first house.

Cautiously…

Anyone Home?

Turns out no one was home but it doesn’t hurt to be careful!
