Best Photographs of 2012

Well, dear readers, my fear became a reality.  I mentioned last week that I had been battling a cold recently and that I was on the mend.   Alas, I spoke too soon.  My cold did an about face and slapped me ‘I-challenge-you-to-a-duel!’ style with some flu-like symptoms.  So, needless to say, I don’t have a new photo to share with you this week.  I hear your lamentations of woe.  My apologies.

But, I won’t leave you with nothing.  To make up for my lack of photographic progress due to my current state of health, I’ll share with you a list of the best photographs of 2012 according to National Geographic.  Everyone likes National Geographic, right?

Check it out, here.

Until next time…

Greetings Cold And Flu Season….I Loathe You!

It’s that time of year once again, folks.  Cold and flu season.  I sure hope you, my fine readers, have been luckier than I at avoiding these nasty viruses.  I’ve been sick for the past week, barely able to think straight let alone operate my camera to take any pictures.  What a lovely way to start off the new year, huh?

Good news is, I seem to be on the mend!  Huzzah!  I should be back to normal in time for next week’s post.  You folks may even be lucky enough to find a new photograph included in next week’s blog post.  Double Huzzah!!  I won’t promise that though, because my cold could turn, make a second pass at me, and knock me flat on my ass like a knight in a jousting tournament.  But, I will try my best to get better and make it happen.

I wish everyone well in this, the season of sicknesses.  Take care of yourselves and your loved ones.  Be safe, be healthy, and be happy.  Oh, and if you can spare any, send some healing thoughts my way!

Until next time…

Wishing You A Happy New Year

It’s that time again, folks.  The last day of the year.  Time to bid a fond farewell to 2012 and welcome 2013.  And if you’re going out tonight to celebrate and ring in the new year, it would be wise to avoid the alcohol.  But, if you absolutely feel that you must party like a stupid drunken rock star, please, please, please be smart enough to choose a designated driver.  I can’t share my awesomeness with you folks if you and those around you don’t make it home in one piece.

With that said, I wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year.  May each of you keep all your resolutions and attain all your goals!

Until next time…

Who Saved A Turkey?

Let me start off by saying, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and didn’t get roped into all that Black Friday madness!

I said last week that I would post a poll in this week’s blog to see how many of my readers, (yes, that includes you) ate a turkey this Thanksgiving and how many saved one.

Well, here we go…

Until next time…

Save A Turkey….Eat A Veggie Burger!

For those of you that don’t know me, and for those of you that do but just don’t pay much attention, I’ll let you in on a little secret.   I’m a strict vegetarian/vegan.  What does that mean?  Well, I don’t eat any form of meat (no beef, chicken, eggs, fish, or anything else that ever had a face or heartbeat), and I do my best to stay away from dairy products and other animal derived products.

I know what some of you may be wondering.  What the hell does this girl eat on Thanksgiving?  So glad you asked!  The answer is simple.  I eat vegetables (obviously) and an amazing vegan chicken alternative from a brand called “Quorn” (look them up, their food is delicious!).

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, only about three days away, in fact, I’ve been thinking a lot about it and the millions of Turkeys that will be butchered for the sake of this holiday.  Now, I’m not here to preach to you about my personal philosophies or to tell you that it’s wrong to eat turkey (or meat in general), I’m just sharing my side of the fence with folks who may be interested in trying something different and new this holiday season.

So, your mission, if you choose to accept it (hopefully I don’t get sued for using that line because I‘m poor and it‘s the holidays!), is to “Save A Turkey And Eat A Veggie Burger”.  I’m curious to know how many of you fine folks out there will take on this little unofficial challenge I‘m setting out before you, and how many of you are too chicken…or in this case, Turkey!…to do it.  Maybe I’ll post a little poll or something next Monday to see who ate turkey and who saved one.

Turkey says: “Please Don’t Eat Me!!”

But, whatever your choice of menu this Thanksgiving, I hope everyone has a happy and healthy holiday!

Until next time…
