HI HO, SIMON!

A few weeks ago I introduced you to my new photographic friend, the gnome, Martin “Marty” McGnome. I didn’t mention then that I also had a few other characters along for the ride.

Meet Oliver “Ollie” the Elf and his faithful, yet slow mount, Simon the Snail!

HIYA!!!

Last week our Nimble Ninja friend, Blue, got himself into some trouble.  Luckily, this week, Purple came to his rescue and together they faced their foe!

*insert epic/heroic action movie music here*

HIYA!!

Yeah.  Toys.  Ninjas.  Gotta love ‘em.  d_[^_^]

Until next time…

Uh Oh, Blue!

Last week gave rise to what I plan to call my “Nimble Ninjas” series.  Catchy title, huh?  Yeah, I know.

Anyway, this week brings a new ninja, the Blue Ninja, who seems to have stumbled into a bit of an unpleasant situation.

Uh Oh!!

Blue Ninja In Trouble

Will Blue defeat his foe and live to Kung Fu fight another day?!  Tune in next week to find out!

Always remember to have fun, my friends!

Until next time…

Toys

Even though I’m one of those…you know…adults, I still like to play with toys now and then. Except, now, the only difference is, I take pictures of my escapades through toy land and call them “photo projects”. Well I’ve done a lot of “photo projects” and I have a lot of “photo projects” in mind for the future.

This doesn’t make me weird or childish. It makes me imaginative and epic! [-_^]

For example, my most recent trip to the beach yielded this (which I plan on making into a series)….

You’re welcome. d_[^_^]

Don’t be afraid to have fun, be silly, or to play with toys as an adult. Defy the norms! Especially when society tries to tell you that playing with toys is “inappropriate for someone your age.”

Until next time…

I Don’t Wanna Grow Up…

One of the things I love about artists, photographers, and other creative folks is the fact that most of them still embrace their inner child.  A lot more than the 9 to 5 office slaves…eh…I mean, workers.

We photographers and artists do what we do because we love it, because we have fun and it makes us happy.

How many times have you bought a new camera, an accessory, or some new art supply and had that “kid on Christmas morning” feeling while you’re opening the packaging?  Every time?  Me too!

Some artists take it a step beyond the giddy “I got something shiny and new” feeling and cross into the realm of all out playtime.  One photographer I stumbled upon on Flickr, Stéfan, illustrates my point perfectly.

Stéfan seems very fond of photographing toys and it’s a good thing he does cause he’s awesome at it. His series entitled “Stormtroopers 365”, in which he photographed two Stormtrooper toys in various adventures every day for a year, is hilarious!  Keep up the good work, Stéfan!

Check out “Stormtroopers 365”!  Seems like the dark side might just be more fun!

I’ve been inspired.

Until next time…
