“Tweet! Tweet!”…And I’m Not Talking About Twitter!…

So I’m not sure if I mentioned this in a previous post or not but there’s a little birdhouse outside my window that’s currently occupied. For the past couple of weeks now I’ve been watching the two birds living in it. I knew they had eggs in there cause one was always in the birdhouse and wouldn’t leave until the other one came back and took over the guard duty.

Today, I went out to take a picture of a little chipmunk that was swiping seeds from our birdfeeder when I see out of the corner of my eye both birds taking off. I watched one come back and stick its head into the birdhouse, then I heard some high pitched tweets when it took off again. Meaning, my friends…well, I’m sure you know what that means. The babies hatched!

Why is this important? Well, to some people, it may not be. I, however, find it cute. I like nature and all the little fuzzy, furry, feathered creatures. What interests me is that last year at this same time that same birdhouse was occupied by the same type of bird. I’m thinking that maybe the ones in the house this year is one of the babies from last year. So cool!

I can’t wait till the little ones start sticking their heads out so I can snap a few photos of them!

Oh and that chipmunk? I’ll have to get the pictures off my card and onto the computer soon to see better if they came out but I think I got some pretty cute shots of him…or…her…I’m not sure which.

Anyway, I guess that’s all I have to bore you with right now. I’m off to try and figure out how I’m going to accomplish a few tasks I have ahead of me. Wish me luck.

Per usual,

Keep on rockin’ on!

Hello…It’s Me Again…

It’s been a while hasn’t it my friends?

Yes. Yes, it has.

I’m sure you’re all wondering what’s going on in my life at the moment. And hey, even if you’re not wondering, I’m going to tell you anyway! ‘Cause I’m nice like that!

First of all, I’ve been working pretty hard to get my photography studio/office done and it’s almost there. Just a few cosmetic things and a few last minute photo essentials to add and I’ll be ready to go.

I got a new Canon printer to help with my photography too. That thing is sweet. Fast, good on ink, quiet, and nice quality. I found out the hard way though that the only photo paper that works properly with it is the paper made by the Canon manufacturer. Just another way for these big companies to rope you in and all but force you to use their products exclusively. Oh well. Gotta do what you gotta do I guess.

One thing that happened recently since my last update that was pretty cool…Bret (Blue Stahli) decided the art piece I made for him was decent and he said he’s going to use it! I haven’t seen it used yet but I’m waiting hopefully!

I’m still working on pieces to send in for Klayton’s call for art. The ideas are brewing but I’m having a bit of a tough time translating them from the plane of thought to the plane of existence. Wish me luck with that.

Next, I’ll be going to my first ever Renaissance Faire next month. I’ve got my costume all done. Granted it’s nothing spectacular, just a shirt, corset, and skirt. But simple tends to work best for me. I’m really not sure what to expect from this thing. I mean, I like to think I’m pretty knowledgeable about the medieval era but I don’t know how the whole Renaissance Faire scene works. If anything it’ll be a learning experience. Hopefully they won’t send an angry mob after me for bringing my camera. I think I’ll get quite a few nice shots at an event like that. We’ll see how it all goes down though.

And finally, I’m getting very close to completing my NYIP course! I have probably eight or ten pictures left to take and print then I can send everything in, sit back, and wait for my critique. If everything’s to their liking, they’ll send me a form to fill out to get my completion certificate. That’ll be awesome! I’m aiming for the end of this month to get everything done and sent in. It’ll probably be sometime in august before I hear anything back though. We’ll see!

Well, I guess that’s all the time I’ll take for this update. There’s much more I could say but I‘ll be nice and end here for now. That’s already (*insert number here*) minutes of your life you’ll never get back. Sorry.

And as usual,

Keep on rockin’ on!

The Shiznit (Volume 1)

Ok, so right now, I’m freaking….how you say….Stoked!

Why, you ask? Well let me tell you!

Up point numbah 1! My photography lights got here Wednesday and they rawk! Everything works and is in tip top shape. I must say, I am one savvy shopper! I can’t wait to get the electrical wiring done in my office so I can fire those lights up and make some magic!

Up point numbah 2! My printer finally decided to behave when I changed out the ink cartridges (apparently the printer thought it would be funny to tell me I had full cartridges when they were near empty). So after that and another slight snag got fixed I went on a printing spree in which I completed my task of printing, matting, and framing my photos. SWEET! So now, I’m all ready and set to go for when my professor gives me the green light to throw everything up in the gallery! I can’t wait. It’ll be awesome to have my own show. The senior show I had was kind of like having my own show but not since I had to share the gallery with another girl.

So my To-Do List is slowly getting smaller. I’ve knocked it down from five to three. I think my reward/punishment system is working quite well.

Now, a wile ago I thought up an awesome idea for a book. The sad part is, I’m not going to share the details on it with people just yet. Heh. Evil. I know. But I’ll just leave it there and let people ponder if they so choose.

Moving on…

I decided I’d like to try and answer a recent call for artists from none other than the amazing Klayton.

Apparently he wants graphic artists to submit some of their work that is inspired by chapter one of his new album “Wish Upon A Blackstar.” I have a vague idea of what I’d like to do but I’m not sure if I can pull it off. And I have only until the 15th to do it. Let’s see if I can do the impossible here. If I do pull it off and it gets chosen, I’ll proudly present it for everyone’s viewing pleasure.

Keep your fingers crossed, mon ami!

And as always…

Keep on rockin’ on!

Gettin’ Recognized For Showin’ Some Celldweller Pride!

Woot! Score! A while ago, we Celldweller fans were asked to send in some pictures of ourselves in what Celldweller gear we had. Sad little me, I only had the dog tag (which I attached to my red collar), but I still snapped a few shots of myself sporting my dog tag and sent them in. And Ta Da! I’m in the photo gallery on the FIXT website! (For those of you that don’t know FIXT is the company started/owned/run by Klayton A.K.A. Celldweller)

You can see me, and various other people sporting Celldweller gear here:

I guess I’ll take this opportunity to update things a bit.

I’m still waiting for my photography lights to get here. They’re on their way so it shouldn’t be long now. I did however receive the remote shutter release cord today and it is schweet! I’ve been wanting one of those bad boys for a while now but couldn’t find one at a decent price. Until now. Instead of the $45 for the name brand one to go with my Sony camera, I snagged one for $16 (shipping included!) that fits BOTH my Sony and Minolta cameras! SCORE!

What else….um…

Well, not to leave everyone on a down note but my printer is being a bitch. A major bitch. For some reason it’s not printing my photos. Every time I try, every combination I use regarding print quality and paper type yields the same sucky results. The coloring’s off on one. There’s lines through the next. The coloring messes up on the third. I’ve cleaned and aligned the nozzles several times and the ink level readouts seemed good. But I decided to take a chance and change the cartridges (after a did what I could to bleed the old cartridges dry so I wouldn’t waste ink by just throwing it away). I guess tomorrow we’ll see if that has any effect.

Cross your fingers, mon ami.

I guess that’s good for now.

Keep on rockin’ on!

Can I Have A Hug?

Holy Frak! It’s been over a week since I updated this pitiful thing. I fail at blogging.

Ok. So, with that said, I guess I’ll update all you wonderful freaks that follow my rants and musings on my goings on in the past week.

First of all, I wrote up a set of deadlines for all my big projects that I need to get done this summer. Accompanying said deadline schedule is a set of rewards/punishments.

My project list is as follows:

1. Print, mat, & frame photos for upcoming show (whenever that is)
2. Buy Photography lighting
3. Finish my photography course
4. Finish my office/studio (I just have to install the lattice ceiling)
-And-
5. Finish the rough draft of my novel

Now, I’m intending to get all this done by the end of August. Heh, I say that now but we’ll see. I’m looking forward to the rewards and dreading the punishments I set for myself for each of these. I’m hoping that will keep me motivated to move my ass on this stuff.

So far, I managed to knock one of these projects off the list! Number two. Woot! I figured I’d do that one first cause I need it in order to knock number three off the list.

At the moment, while I’m waiting for my lights to come in, I’m working on number one.

Aw yeah. Things are getting set in motion. I like motion. ‘tis good.

Moving on…

I made friends with a pheasant! No, seriously. I did. I was outside Friday morning taking care of the trash and I heard this sound that reminded me of a guinea pig. Kind of a chirping/grunting/squeal-ish sound. I looked over my shoulder and saw this little pheasant. It couldn’t have been very old cause its tail feathers were pretty short. The thing was just waddling along past me heading up my driveway toward the lawn. I whistled at it and it turned, looked at me, and, I figured it would have taken off, but it waddled toward me! So, I went into the house and got some bird seed. I tossed it out for him (I’m not sure if it was a boy or girl but I called it a “him“) and he had a little snack while I snapped some pictures of him. He even posed a few times for me. Funny little thing.

Yesterday, he came back, sat on the edge of the lawn, and stared at the house. He made his little chirpy/squeal sound until I came to the door. The thing was calling to me! Can you believe that! A wild freaking pheasant calling to me! So I went out and fed him again. He kind of ran off while I was putting out the bird seed but he came back and had his snack.

Then, mom tells me this morning when I got up that he had come back early in the morning and was calling again! I don’t know if he’s pissed that I didn’t come out and feed him or if he found food elsewhere cause I haven’t seen him again. I just hope he either found his family or found some other place with better food. I hope another animal didn’t get him. That’d make me sad.

I don’t know why but animals are drawn to me. It doesn’t matter where I go, or what the animal is, they’re drawn to me. I would have become a vet but I can’t handle it when animals are hurt. Kind of defeats the purpose of me being a vet huh? I think so. I don’t think I’d be able to run a shelter either cause I’d get attached to all the animals and be sad when someone adopted one. I know, I’m odd.

Last thing before I release everyone from this boring ass update….My finger is a bit better but I still think it’s permanently damaged. The ache is gone, unless there’s pressure applied to my finger, and the little hard lump is still there. I’m thinking maybe I cracked it or chipped the bone and have a bone spur or something. Lovely. Like I haven’t suffered enough physical damage already.

So…I guess the moral of my story here kids, is that you have to take the bad with the good. Some points of life will look up while others will just….well…outright suck.

Took me a while to come up with that one. Profound ain’t it! Yeah, I’m a freaking visionary all right.

*sigh* I need a hug.

Until next time…

Keep on rockin’ on….
