Zora’s Domain

No amount of inclement weather or drastic change in temperature will stop the Hero of Time!  (Don’t look at me like that, we’ve already established that I’m a nerd)

Though the weather was bleak and cold, Link still found the strength to pay a visit to the Zora’s Domain. But why? Well, that I’ll leave to your imagination.

Link in the Zora Domain

If you’re lost and don’t know what I’m talking about, I urge you to go play a Legend of Zelda game. I’d recommend Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, or Skyward Sword.

Don’t worry, next week’s post won’t be nerdy. I figured I’d give my readers a break from my geekness (plus Link could use a break too! [-_^]).

Until next time…

Archery Practice

Though I’m a fan of archery and kicked ass at it back when I was in high school, I’m not talking about my own archery practice here.

I’m talking about Link.  He’s known to be proficient in many weapons (those of you that enjoy the Legend of Zelda games know this well); the bow being one of them.

Link's Archery Practice

As my Link figure only came with his sword and shield (and interchangeable hands), I had to make his bow.  Go me!  Now Link can reach those pesky enemies from a distance!

Silly Cat!

My cats are a constant source of entertainment, yet ninety percent of the time they’re not trying and are just doing what cats do.  Be it running aimlessly through the house like they’re chasing something (or being chased), playing with a paper ball instead of the numerous toys that have been bought for them, just rolling around on the floor lookin’ all cute, or whatever the case may be.

For example, my cat Abby in addicted to treats.  I joke that she needs rehab as she tries to scam a treat from everyone and every room in the house.  But she goes a step further where her dry cat food is involved.  She greatly enjoys the “tender middle” type cat food and has a strict “No Kernel Left Behind” policy.

You go get ‘em, Abby!

Fall Foliage… Almost A Win

I just realized that I went the entire month of October without posting a foliage picture.  I guess November is still technically “fall” but the foliage tends to peak in October around where I live.

Over the past few years the foliage has been a huge let down and my annual trip to Screw Auger Falls and the neighboring Mother Walker Falls (laugh it up) and Moose Cave here in Maine have just been a test of my resilience to cold wind.

This year, the foliage was a tad bit better, though not as vibrant as I’d have liked when I arrived at Screw Auger Falls then went on to Mother Walker Falls and Moose Cave.  We’ve been in the throes of a bit of a drought here in Maine this past summer and even now so I don’t know if that was a help to the fall colors or a hindrance.  I do know that the lack of pounding rain and the gale force winds that tend to accompany fall rains meant that fewer leaves were torn from the trees before they had a chance to change color which is what tends to happen.

So, fall foliage for 2016… Almost a win…

Deer In The Yard…Again

One morning recently, as I got ready to make myself some breakfast before heading out for a hike, I looked out my kitchen window and saw a four-legged visitor hanging out in my yard. I’m pretty sure this deer is female as she’s visited my yard many times over the years and has even come around with little ones.

Today I saw her not just grazing in my yard like she normally does, but she was lying down in some tall grass on the border of my property. I was even able to step out onto my porch without spooking her in order to get these images. If you look closely, you can even see her cheek puffed out a bit due to the mouthful of grass she’s chomping on.

It’s nice to see these beautiful creatures enjoying my yard. Apparently the grass is greener over here!

Until next time…
