Fall Foliage…WIN…[^_^]…

A few weeks ago, as I mentioned, I had hoped to get a nice photograph of the fall foliage to share with you folks.  At that time…I failed.  Well, the foliage around my house failed.

But rejoice!  I have finally succeeded as I hoped I would!

While on a hike up Tunk Mountain, I managed to catch a few images of some totally unexpected, nice, and bright foliage.  It was quite surprising because at the head of the trail, all the trees were either bare or the foliage had already gone past.  I suppose the shelter from the wind created by the surrounding forest coupled with the cool nights and nice days we’ve had here in Maine this past month, left the trees in this area with some decent foliage.  Woot!

So, to make up for my lack of a foliage photo when I said I’d give you folks a foliage photo, here are two.  Enjoy!

When Clouds Look Like Cool Things….

Remember being a kid, lying in a field, looking up at the sky, and watching the clouds, saying to yourself “That one looks like a bunny!“?  Yeah… Me too.   [^_^]

To this day, I love it when I look up at the sky and see a cloud that looks like something.  Not something generic like a bunny or a puppy, but something utterly cool.   I’ve seen a cloud that looks like the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek (I’ll track down the photograph I took and post it if anyone’s interested), and not too long ago, I saw this cloud.  To me, it looks like…

GODZILLA!!!!

What’s the coolest thing you’ve seen in a cloud?

Until next time…

What’s Wrong With This Picture…?

This week’s post is going to be void of photography related things.  I can hear your sighs and laments of sorrow at this news.

But to lift everyone’s spirits some, I’ll share some happy news.  My brother and his fiancé got married this past weekend.  Congratulations you two!

The next day (yesterday to those of you paying attention), was my birthday.  I’m not going to tell you how old I turned.  Like a superhero protecting their secret identity, a lady never reveals her age (or her weight for that matter, so don’t even think about asking!) to the general population.  My family knows (at least, I should hope they know), and my Facebook friends know.  But don’t bother asking them.  I made them all sign confidentiality agreements upon the acceptance of their friend requests.  [-_^]  Just kidding.

So, because it was my birthday yesterday, I didn’t sit down and put much thought into a photography-type post for you folks.  Be happy you’re getting this much today!

I’ll be sure to post something photography related next week.

Deal?  Deal!

And points to you if you read the title of this post, read the post, then looked back at the title and giggled even a little bit.  [-_^]

Until next time…

Fall Foliage…FAIL…[-_-]…

As I mentioned last week, I had hoped to get a nice photograph of the fall foliage near my home to share with you folks.  I also said that I would update you on that this week.  Unfortunately, as the title of this week’s post says…I failed.  Or rather, the foliage failed.

Sadly, like the past few years, the foliage around my house and town…well…sucks.  There’s really no other word for it.  It flat out sucks.  Most of the leaves have already fallen, before they even changed.  And those that did change?  Well, the colors are so bland it’s depressing.

But, I always have a camera with me, so maybe the next time I take a little trip, or go hiking (hopefully one, or both, of these happens before all the leaves fall), I’ll find some decent foliage to photograph.

My apologies to those of you (all two of you) that were hoping to see a pretty “fall colors” photograph from me this week.  In lieu of that, and to ease the emotional sting I know you all feel, I’ve included an image I took from my kitchen window of a pretty fall sunrise.  Enjoy!

Until next time…

First Day Of October!

I have to say that October is probably my favorite month of the year.  Why?  I’m so glad you asked!

First, October is the heart of fall.  And fall is my favorite season.  The leaves turn, the air is crisp, and the weather is cool.  It’s the perfect time of year in my opinion.

Second, Halloween.  My favorite holiday.  I’m not talking the costumes and candy Halloween that corporations created to gain profits, but the pagan holiday at the root of it all.  Samhain.  If you don’t know what that is, I invite you to go on a little journey and research it.  Learning is fun!

And third, my birthday.  That’s right.  October holds the anniversary of the day I was born.  I’ll be 29 this year.  Wow.  I’m getting old!  [-_^]

Anyway, this week I intend to seek out some vibrantly colored fall leaves to photograph.  Over the past few years, the leaves around here have either fallen before they got a chance to change, or the colors weren’t very bright.  I’ll let you know how my search turns out, next week.

Here’s to hoping this year will have brighter fall foliage!

Until next time…
