Farewell 2017

I’m sure most of my readers will actually be reading this on Tuesday instead of Monday this week as Monday is Christmas day, but that’s ok!  Better late than never!

To that end, Merry Christmas everyone!  And Happy Holidays to those of you who don’t celebrate Christmas!

Here’s a shot I took earlier in the year (when we actually had snow) to get everyone in the winter mood.  Funny thing about this shot, the sky was only overcast when I set out on the hike but on the way back it was almost a blizzard.  I couldn’t see more than ten feet in front of me at times.  That’s Maine for you.  Our saying about the weather is so true:  “If you don’t like the weather in Maine…Wait five minutes.”

Well, this marks my last post of 2017.  I hope everyone enjoyed my random musings and photos this year.  I’ll be back with a new post next Monday where it’s January 1st, then I’ll continue with my “every-other-week” posting schedule.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year (and if you plan to ring in the new year at a party with alcohol, please drink responsibly and designate a driver)!

Take care, folks!

Until next time…

Welcome 2017

Apologies for the lack of a post last Monday.  I would have made this post then, but I was without internet service for an entire week.  Gotta love it when tech support knows the issue is on their end but treats you like it’s on yours and runs you around in circles.  [>_<]

Anyway, time to ring in a new year.  I hope this year will be better than last year.  We saw far to many beloved celebrities pass last year and I hope that doesn’t carry over into this year.

But, one thing I’m not looking forward to is the coming presidential inauguration.  I don’t want to get into a political debate with anyone here as I loathe politics to the core, but I just can’t stand that man (I can’t stand him so much I won’t even type his name).

One thing I’ve always done for everyone, regardless of who they are, is give them the benefit of the doubt.  Maybe things will change for the better, maybe things will get much worse.  I know what my gut’s telling me, but I’ll wait and see.

Anyway, doom and gloom aside… I think the biggest issue I’m going to struggle with, at least for the next month or two, is getting into the habit of writing 2017 instead of 2016!  Anyone else have that problem?

New year’s resolutions for the coming year: Take more pictures, write, live a healthier lifestyle (less TV, more exercise).

Just a reminder, folks, this year I’ll be posting every other Monday instead of every Monday.

Until next time…

What A Difference…

…Ten days makes.

Not too long ago, on Christmas Day, there was no snow to be found in my little corner of Maine and the temperature was in the 50s.  Unheard of since I can remember.

Today, there’s at least five inches of snow on the ground and it’s in the 30s.  The wind chill makes it seem more like single digits, though.  It would be bearable if not for the damn wind.

In spite of the wind, I tried going hiking a few days ago, like I did on Christmas Day and it was a completely different experience.  Instead of nice weather where I didn’t need a jacket like on Christmas Day, this past excursion had me bundled in several layers with a hood, a hat, gloves, the works, and I was still freezing.

Regardless, I pressed on, my trusty camera at the ready.  You wouldn’t believe how many deer tracks I found in the snow.

Until next time…
