I’m Skeksi And I Know It

Forgive the title of this post.  I took a shot at humor.  If it hit the mark, stellar.  If not, meh.

Anyway, the title, funny or not, does relate to this post’s content so get ready for some geekery!

I went hiking recently and after I stopped to have my picnic lunch (I always pack a lunch when going hiking), I started down the trail and just happened to stumble across this downed tree’s root system.  My “80’s-geek-kid” brain took over the matrixing process and I laughed.

Come on!  Doesn’t this look like the head of a Skeksi from The Dark Crystal!?!  I know, right!

Keepin’ it nerdy since the 80’s! [-_^]

Until next time…

License Plate Fun…Round 2

Last week I shared a funny Transformers related memory of mine with all of you.  Well, this week I just have to keep the Transformers theme going.

I mentioned in a post last year that I like looking for funny vanity plates when I’m on the road or walking through a parking lot while on my way to/from a store.  The last license plate I shared with you folks was Game of Thrones related (check that post out here).  Well, a few days ago, I went shopping with my mother and while we were at a stop light, my mother noticed the license plate of the vehicle in front of us and brought it to my attention.  I couldn’t help but laugh and scramble for my camera.

This is what we saw…

Forgive the quality of the image.  I took this through a less than pristine windshield while in a moving car (I was the passenger so don’t worry).

Hilarious!  Again, stay nerdy, folks!

Until next time…

Geocoin Drop

Apologies that this week’s post has arrived a day late. I spent the past few days helping my mother do yard work and only now have I had a moment to catch my breath.
A few weeks ago I went hiking with a mission. I’d found a geocoin while geocaching (if you don’t know what geocaching is, I’d suggest you read up and join the fun, it’s awesome! Go here Geocaching.com) quite some time ago and while looking up the coin’s tracking number on the geocaching site, I found out that it originated in Texas and the owner of the coin wanted it to make its way to Canada.
I was able to make that possible.
I traveled to Campobello, GPS in hand (though I ended up not even needing it to find the cache. I remembered where it was!), and hiked out to my favorite cache location on the island. The Sunsweep sculpture.
I proudly deposited the coin in the cache (after taking a few pictures of course) and enjoyed the view before heading home.

I’m glad I was able to contribute and get a geocoin to its destination.

Until next time…

McGnome Family

Last month I introduced you to Martin “Marty” McGnome.  Well, this week, I’d like to introduce you to his parents, Marvin and Martha McGnome!  Their debut family portrait was taken on a trip to Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Canada!

Expect to be seeing more from this quaint little Gnome family.

McGnome Family

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, Marty underwent a bit of a makeover since his last appearance on my blog.  He stopped dying his beard and hair white and went back to his natural ginger!  [-_^]

Until next time…

HI HO, SIMON!

A few weeks ago I introduced you to my new photographic friend, the gnome, Martin “Marty” McGnome. I didn’t mention then that I also had a few other characters along for the ride.

Meet Oliver “Ollie” the Elf and his faithful, yet slow mount, Simon the Snail!

HI HO, SIMON!
